Farm

The current farm boundries are marked-up on this satellite image from Google Earth.

Below is another satellite image showing the whole farm - all of the land south of the main road to the crest of the mountain. Unfortunately the image was taken in winter with the farm looking very dry ( 12 September 2005 with the last rain recorded in April 2005 ).

Hannes Venter is busy compiling a history of Hermanusdoorns which will be published on the website once completed.

The more recent history is that it started with registration in November 1990 ( see advertisement ) as a Hunting Club offering housing stands for R 27 500, caravan stands for R 13 000 and camping stands for R 13 000. Needless to say, this soon fell into chaos with over-crowding and unlimited hunting allowed. It has since been turned around into a conservation area with a limited number of shareholders and no hunting.
